Connie Porter, author of the Addy Walker books in the American Girls historical fiction series, will present an author talk and book signing, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, April 17, at Pearl Bailey Library. The Addy books are about a courageous 9-year-old girl determined to be free in 1864, during the Civil War. An Addy American Girl doll and bookmarks will be given away free, and Barnes & Noble Booksellers will be present to sell American Girl books and other materials. Porter also has written two adult novels, “All-Bright Court” and “Imani All Mine.” “All-Bright Court” was selected by the American Library Association as one of the Best Books of 1991. She lives in Pittsburgh, Penn. No registration is required.
