Kam Chancellor in EA Sports NCAA Football 2008 and Elan Lewis is shedding the pounds
I had an amusing exchange today with strong safety Kam Chancellor after practice. It'll probably reveal something slightly embarrassing about me, but whatever...there are much worse things than playing video games at 32 years old. 32 is the new 22, right? Well, I know for a FACT I was playing a LOT more video games at 22 (and generally devoting a much higher percentage of my daily routine to the pursuit of debauchery and fun) than I am now.
Anyway, in the EA Sports NCAA Football 2008 game, Chancellor wears No. 17...just like he does on the field for Tech. In scale to the rest of Tech's players in the game, Chancellor's computerized image appears to bear a close resemblance to his real-life 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame.
One problem...he's white in the game.
Now, either the EA Sports folks (who I admire...if you haven't seen this game, check it out...it's as close to a realistic simulation of game day as you'll find anywhere) didn't do their homework on Chancellor or it was just an oversight. Either way, Chancellor isn't losing any sleep over it. He's not a big video game guy.
"Yeah, I know about that," Chancellor said. "Somebody told me. I wish I could call (EA Sports) about it, but I don't think it would do anything. It's no big deal."

Over the last couple weeks, I keep running into running back Elan Lewis on and around campus. Just one of those strange crossed paths things.
Lewis, a Phoebus High graduate, said he's feeling great (still recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in August), but here's even BETTER news. He LOOKS great!! Seriously, he looks like he's lost at least 10 pounds. We'll see how that affects him in spring practice, but the dude at least looks like he's getting ready to go. He will likely be absolutely buried on the tailback depth chart when he returns, but maybe he'll get moved to fullback, in which case he'd have a shot at making a move on the depth chart. That's all waaaay down the road.
