Outcoached...
We all saw the Yellowjackets outplay the Hokies on Saturday, but the loss had little to do with GT having better players, and a lot to do with GT having better coaching.
I have to hand it to Paul Johnson - he's the best offensive coach in the ACC - maybe in all of college football. Bud Foster threw his best defensive schemes at him the first half, only to have Johnson make a few adjustments and literally shred the vaunted Hokie defense in the second half. Foster got "pantsed" big time - very disappointing.
As for Coaches Beamer and Steinspring - what were they thinking in the first half??? Playing against the worst passing defense in the ACC, they promptly abandon the passing game after the first play of the game and repeatedly run poor sick Ryan Williams into a stacked GT defense. By the time they woke up in the third quarter, the game was out of hand. You can't play two scores down against a team that eats up clock time with their offense.
The players played their hearts out, but this loss goes straight to our coaches.
Now for some well deserved time off. We know that Tech needs to win out to have a shot at the ACC division crown, and that means getting back to business against North Carolina.
